Scott: Underfunding Colleges is depriving Scottish Economy

Commenting as the Scottish Funding Council published its indicative funding allocations for the further and higher education sectors for the upcoming academic year, Scottish Liberal Democrat education spokesperson Tavish Scott MSP said:

"We wanted to put £93 million into colleges across Scotland. We wanted to restore funding levels to those of 2010. The SNP-Green budget does neither. The results of these cuts are obvious - 150,000 fewer students in college today compared to when the SNP came to power in 2007.

"Underfunding our colleges is depriving the Scottish economy of skilled staff. If these cuts continue Scotland's much vaunted education system will deteriorate further under the SNP."
