Scottish Liberal Democrat leader has today criticised the Scottish Government for engaging in talks with Qatar to invest in Scotland.

Reports today in the Scottish Mail on Sunday reveal that the Scottish Government has been courting Qatar for investment in Scotland, with Humza Yousaf visiting the country despite Qatar having a poor record on human rights.

Commenting Mr Rennie said:

"It is clear that Scottish Government were prepared to trade the human rights of the people in Qatar for investment in Scotland.

"Despite the SNP's rhetoric on human rights, their actions speak of hypocrisy."

"Scotland must take a stand on human rights rather than cosying up to wealthy born investors.

"The lack of transparency on their proposed investment deals with countries like China and Qatar will send alarm bells ringing around the homes of Scotland."
