Commenting as new statistics confirm December witnessed the worst performance against the A&E target since January 2016, Scottish Liberal Democrat health spokesperson Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP commented:

"A&E targets have been missed and missed again under this SNP Government, despite the tireless efforts of doctors and nurses in hospitals across the country.

"The fact that 10,000 people waited longer than four hours to be seen during December shows that, once again, staff and patients are being let down by an SNP Government that has fundamentally failed to get to grips with the challenges facing our health service."
