Public sector must set better example on gender equality

Following the conclusion of the debate at the Scottish Parliament on Gender and the Workplace, Scottish Liberal Democrat equalities spokesperson Caron Lindsay commented:

"It is appalling that women are still being frozen out of top jobs, with men nearly twice as likely to be in senior management positions.

"The public sector's record on this is a poor one, with women accounting for only 15% of senior police and just one in 10 high court judges. That simply isn't good enough and it is testament to how slow off the mark the SNP were.

"The Scottish Government needs to ensure that the public sector sets a far better example to the rest of the country."
