Responding to the news that Police Scotland has cancelled its £60 million i6 IT programme, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie MSP commented:

"This project has been in disarray from the very start. The contract was signed in June 2013 and by that August it was already the subject of mediation.

"Its cancellation is a serious setback for the national force. It was integral to delivering many of the supposed benefits of centralising our local police services.

"Now that they have been forced to go all the way back to the drawing board, Police Scotland and the SPA must set out how they will deliver the reforms i6 promised."
