Speaking in response to an announcement from John Swinney that heWillie RennieWillie Rennie would increase borrowing in an independent Scotland, the leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats Willie Rennie said:

"John Swinney's spending plans are in chaos. Only a fortnight ago his most senior economic adviser, Professor Hughes Hallet, warned that the oil projections he uses are wrong to the tune of £2.4bn.

"Until John Swinney has fixed that problem he won't have any credibility on announcing new spending.

"Now the SNP have had an expert forecast massively different from their own assumption on oil it is time for them to act. It is time for a completely revised set of spending commitments from the Scottish Government."
