"This is excellent news for Scottish innovation, jobs and growth. It shows the strength of Scotland's universities, who benefit to the tune of £250 million from UK research funding each year.

"The SNP's independence plans would create an uncertain future for this vital source of research funding, as parliament's Education Committee heard recently. The multi-million pounds worth of spin-out companies from our world class research base is just one more benefit from being part of the UK."
