Leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats Willie Rennie has said that aWillie RennieWillie Rennie new report on strengthening local democracy adds to the growing consensus for more powers.

The Commission on Strengthening Local Democracy published its interim report today, which finds that Scotland is now one of the most centralised countries in the western world.

Commenting, Mr Rennie said:

"This interim report adds to the growing consensus for more powers. It chimes with Sir Menzies Campbell's home rule report which called for financial power for local authorities and more clout for smaller communities to decide the future of their neighbourhood.

"The home rule journey does not end at Holyrood and as a Liberal Democrat I look forward to seeing further debate over how we make local communities stronger and fairer."
