Scottish Liberal Democrats have praised a promising call for moreJeremy PurvisJeremy Purvis powers from senior Labour MP Douglas Alexander today.

This comes ahead of a speech where Douglas Alexander is to call for Labour's devolution commission to range widely and act boldly in its final report on more powers to be published in the coming weeks.

Jeremy Purvis, Liberal Democrat peer and adviser to Willie Rennie MSP, said:

"This is a promising call for more powers and shows that there is a growing consensus towards delivering positive change for Scotland within the UK family of nations. Earlier this month I was encouraged by Ruth Davidson¹s remarks and today Douglas Alexander's speech is a further signpost on the path to more powers.

"The Liberal Democrat Campbell II report is progressing and will reflect upon this clear consensus with a view to mapping out how we can move quickly to unlock more powers in the event of a No vote in September. What we are now seeing is a promising appetite across Scotland's political parties to improve the financial accountability of Holyrood whilst retaining the strength of the UK."
