Scottish Liberal Democrats have this evening supported the final stageJim HumeJim Hume of a Scottish Government initiative to integrate health and social care.

The Public Bodies (Joint Working) (Scotland) bill was approved by the Scottish Parliament and will open the doors towards joint working between local authorities delivering care in the community.

Scottish Liberal Democrat health spokesperson Jim Hume MSP said:

"This legislation has been a long time coming. Liberal Democrats have consistently made the case for integrating health and social care as a means of alleviating pressure from our hospitals and giving people the support they need to be cared for at home. Figures released only today showed that too many people are being kept in hospital beds despite being clinically ready to leave hospital."
