"This is a serious and considered interim response to the UK Sir Robert SmithSir Robert SmithGovernment's intentions to maximise oil recovery in the UK Continental shelf. Sir Ian's report, commissioned by the UK government, will bring together the might of both government and industry to realise opportunities for our economy. As the UKCS matures it will be all the more important that we promote long-term collaboration towards the challenges facing what is a volatile and declining resource.

"The strength and scale of the UK working in partnership with industry will allow us to unlock the potential of the UKCS, boosting jobs and growth. Scottish Liberal Democrats look forward to the progression of Sir Ian's report and hope that the industry will build on their constructive engagement with it."
