Commenting on today's unemployment figures, Scottish Liberal DemocratWillie RennieWillie Rennie leader Willie Rennie MSP said:

"On the day when the Scottish Government has declared that its priority is independence these figures show their complacency on real day-to-day issues.

"This is yet another month where yo-yo unemployment is up in Scotland even though it is falling elsewhere across the UK.

"The Scottish Government needs to commit to increasing the number of Scottish companies that offer apprenticeships. They need to reverse their cuts to colleges. And they should give families in the middle the breakthrough they need with childcare places for 2-year-olds, just as they are doing in England.

"The hundreds of thousands of people in Scotland looking for good quality jobs will want to know their two governments are working even closer together."
