Rennie: Defence report shows risks of independence

Commenting ahead of the pulication of a report by the Scotland Willie RennieWillie RennieInstitute on defence and security in an independent Scotland, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie MSP said:

"This substantial report authored by people with direct military experience tells us that there would be significant risks for Scotland if we were to opt for independence. We would lose key capabilities that would need built up over time making us weak against threats, limiting the options for the nation in the interim and would not make us safer in the long term.

"Combined with the impact on the defence industry here and difficulties with NATO this report shows the price we would pay from breaking from the UK."
