Speaking in response to an open letter from former college principalsLiam McArthurLiam McArthur Ian Graham and Graeme Hyslop to education secretary Mike Russell, Scottish Liberal Democrat education spokesperson Liam McArthur said:

"Ian Graham and Graeme Hyslop do not miss the man and hit the wall with their criticisms of the Education Secretary. Nor, given their credentials and experience, can their concerns about the SNP government's approach to the college sector be easily dismissed.

"Cuts to budgets, hasty mergers and the threat of more ministerial meddling have spread alarm though the college sector in Scotland. Little wonder, then, that the SNP was the only party willing to support the Education Secretary's Post-16 Education Bill earlier this week.

"Any lingering doubt that Mr Russell needs to stop, listen and respond to the concerns that have been raised, have been emphatically dispelled by Ian Graham and Graeme Hyslop".
