Commenting as it's announced that the tobacco display ban will begin in April 2013 due to Imperial Tobacco losing its legal challenge against the move, Convener of the Cross Party Group on Tobacco and Health and leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats Willie Rennie MSP said:

"Removing the opportunity for the tobacco industry to openly promote their wares in shops is another important step in our efforts to tackle smoking diseases.

"Lung disease and cancer have cost the lives of many, afflicted more and cost our NHS a fortune.

"The Supreme Court's rejection of Imperial Tobacco's argument is good for health in Scotland."
