"The relationship between Alex Salmond and Rupert Murdoch is an embarrassing one. But it shouldn't stop the First Minister from making a statement on the Leveson report.

"Scotland shouldn't be on the sidelines on this. The Scottish Parliament has the legal power to act. We should be at the front of the debate.

"People will expect to see the First Minister in Parliament on this.

"If MPs are to get a statement from the Prime Minister, MSPs should get a statement from the First Minister.

"Alex Salmond must promptly set out his position on the Leveson findings and his proposed course of action."
