Commenting on NHS staffing figures which show a 16% reduction in senior management in the NHS, Scottish Liberal Democrat health spokesperson Alison McInnes MSP said:

"I am pleased that the cumbersome tier of senior management within the NHS is being scaled back but it is barely a fig leaf for the continued reduction in frontline nursing staff across Scotland.

"With further cuts to nurses and midwives on the SNP's horizon I fail to see how this will not have an impact on patient safety."
