Commenting as figures reveal that Scotland's drugs budget has risen again in the past year, Scottish Liberal Democrat Health spokesperson Alison McInnes MSP said:

Alison McInnes MSPAlison McInnes MSP"While the drugs bill in Scotland soars and the amount of items prescribed increase, the Scottish Government moved to abolish prescription charges for everyone including the wealthy.

"The SNP need to control these spiralling costs so that more money can be spent on NHS frontline services. This is more important than ever in the current climate.

"We need to see better management and purchasing of drugs to bring about better health outcomes and save money.

"SNP Ministers should accept this challenge and cut the drugs bill to the NHS."
