Commenting on the calls made by RSPB Scotland for Oil company Shell to make public their most recent pipeline inspection report, Scottish Liberal Democrat Environment spokesperson Jim Hume MSP said:

"So far, there has been far too much of a cloak and dagger approach to the worst oil leak in the North sea in the last ten years.

"If we are to avoid a situation like this in the future and get rid of the Chinese whispers that have plagued this most recent spill, we need a much more transparent approach from all involved.

"Scottish Liberal Democrats support the calls by the RSPB calling on Shell to publish all their pipe inspection reports. We need to know how much worse this spill is going to get, what the dangers are to the sea and wildlife and what can be done to stop this happening in the future.

"Shell need to come clean and quickly."
