Commenting following the Justice Committee's first evidence session on the Offensive Behaviour at Football and Threatening Communications (Scotland) Bill, Liberal Democrat Justice spokesperson Alison McInnes MSP said:

"In our hour with the Minister this morning, we had all too few answers as to what this Bill does and doesn't do, and even more questions raised.

"The Minister is unclear as to what the new law would do. Police are unclear as to how they will be expected to enforce it. Legal experts are unclear as to why it is needed in the first place.

"What is becoming clearer by the minute is that this Bill is being recklessly rushed through Parliament by the SNP Government, with no time to consider whether it will actually make any difference to the fight against sectarianism."
