Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Tavish Scott saw first hand the investments being made at Edinburgh Waverley with Alex Cole-Hamilton, candidate for Edinburgh Central.

The Liberal Democrats outlined their commitment to extending and improving rail transport in the next Parliament.

Commenting, Mr Scott said:

"It's great to see ambitious plans for our capital's rail station happening.

"Liberal Democrats are committed to investing in rail transport in the next Scottish Parliament.

"We want to improve the services we already have and extend them further.

"That investment should support better trains running on the long-distance routes from Edinburgh and Glasgow to Inverness and Aberdeen. That means more comfortable trains for passengers and more luggage capacity and wi-fi to encourage business use.

"I'm very proud of my record as Transport Minister, taking forward improvements to the Stirling to Alloa line and Airdrie to Bathgate. Liberal Democrats did this when railways everywhere else in Britain were being closed."
