Dundee LibDem candidates remind voters about election deadlines

April 11, 2007 7:19 AM

Dundee LibDem parliamentary candidates Dr Clive Sneddon (Dundee East) and Michael Charlton (Dundee West) today (Wednesday 11th April) reminded all local residents in Dundee that they must be registered by 18th April 2007 to vote in the local council and Scottish Parliament elections which take place on Thursday 3rd May.

Clive said, "If you are 18 or over on the 3rd of May and live in Scotland, you are probably entitled to vote, but to take part in the election, you must be registered to vote.

"If you are not absolutely sure whether you are registered to vote, it's far better to find out now rather than be disappointed at the polling station. If you are in doubt as to whether you are registered, please e-mail elections@dundeelibdems.org.uk. We can send you the relevant form to register to vote or you can download it from the Dundee City Council website."

Michael said, "Another option is to register to vote by post which is useful if you find it difficult or inconvenient to visit your local polling station on election day.

"To obtain a postal vote, however, you need to fill in a postal vote application form by Wednesday 18th April 2007.

"Again, if you contact us we can send you the form for you to complete and return to Dundee City Council. Alternatively you can download it from the Dundee City Council website."
