Dundee Liberal Democrats have today (Thursday 5th February) welcome the Liberal Democrat input into the Scottish Budget process, resulting in concessions that will lead to long term economic gains.
Commenting after voting for the Budget, following successful negotiations earlier this week, Leader of the Liberal Democrats in Scotland, Tavish Scott MSP, said, "Last week's GDP figures showed the desperate state of the economy. We know from these figures that Scotland is likely now to be in both a deeper and longer recession than the rest of the UK.
"That is why Liberal Democrats worked constructively to secure an economic recovery plan with long term benefits.
"Scotland must fund a new Forth crossing and road and rail projects across the country. Our involvement in this Budget has opened up ways to make that happen."
Leader of the LibDem Group on Dundee City Council, Cllr Fraser Macpherson, added, "Scottish Liberal Democrats have negotiated positive improvements to the Scottish Budget, which will be of real benefit in assisting with the economic challenges facing the country."
