Following the news of Charles Kennedy's resignation as Liberal Democrat UK leader, Dundee Liberal Democrat Council Group Leader, Cllr Fraser Macpherson, paid tribute to Charles for the hard work he had put in as Liberal Democrat Federal Leader and for his achievements during his period as Leader.

"Charles Kennedy was a good leader who led us to real success, with a record 62 MPs elected at last May's General Election," said Cllr Macpherson.

"His resignation speech today and his courageous speech on Thursday night reminds us why he was so successful - the Liberal Democrats owe him a great debt of gratitude."
