Cllr Fraser Macpherson

Dundee Liberal Democrat city councillor for West End Ward

Fraser Macpherson has been councillor for the West End on Dundee City Council since 2001, is Liberal Democrat Group Leader on the City Council.

Fraser was originally elected at the City Council by-election in Tay Bridges Ward on 30th August 2001. The Liberal Democrats gained our first seat on Dundee City Council, with a spectacular win in what had been Labour's safest seat. Fraser won over 50% of the poll. The full result was:

Fraser Macpherson - Liberal Democrat - 475

Labour 236

SNP 143

SSP 49

Tory 22

Lib Dem Majority 239

At the 2003 City Council full election, Fraser was re-elected with a large increase in his majority. The May 2003 result was:

Fraser Macpherson - Liberal Democrat - 940

Labour 234

SNP 152

SSP 101

Tory 49

Lib Dem Majority 706

Fraser topped the poll in the new 4 member West End Ward in May 2007, well ahead of any other candidate. He achieved this again in 2012, further increasing his share of hte poll and gaining more votes than the 2 SNP councillors combined and significantly more than the Labour councillor in his ward.

Fraser believes strongly that politicians should be judged by what they do to work for local people. Actions speak louder than words!

Born and Bred in Dundee, Fraser is development manager with a professional body. He previously worked for an accountancy body, and prior to that worked in I.T.

Fraser is Treasurer of Dundee Liberal Democrats. He is also a member of the Scottish Liberal Democrats' national Campaigns and Candidates Committee.

He is editor of the FOCUS community newsletter produced by Liberal Democrats for residents of Dundee's West End.
