SNP must do better on affordable housing
Commenting after challenging Alex Salmond about Government proposals to tackle unintentional homelessness at today's First Minister's Questions, Liberal Democrat Housing spokesperson Ross Finnie said, "The First Minister utterly failed to explain why, despite announcements of bringing forward accelerated investment in affordable housing, the SNP Government investment plan for Edinburgh and Glasgow is exactly the same as it was this time two years ago.
"If the Government continues with this freeze on affordable housing investment in Scotland's two major cities, then there is a real risk that vast numbers of people will fall into unintentional homelessness. This must not be allowed to happen."
Here in Dundee, Liberal Democrat City Council Group Leader added, "The SNP has cut affordable housing capital expenditure in Dundee in 2008/9 by an eye-watering 46%. The SNP has cut housing expenditure in Dundee by millions and has failed Dundee."
