Cllr Fraser Macpherson supports calls for demand responsive transport

Dundee Liberal Democrats have today (Sunday 3rd February) has welcomed the intervention of North East Scotland LibDem MSP Alison McInnes in demanding the SNP government stop its public transport cuts.

Speaking in a debate in the Scottish Parliament, Alison McInnes has called on the Scottish Government to end uncertainty and develop Demand Responsive Transport in Scotland.

Mrs McInnes said, "Ministers profess to be in favour of public transport, but the draft Budget tells a different story.

"The SNP has chosen to make cuts to the Bus Service Operators Grant (BSOG) and concessionary fares and to jeopardise Demand Responsive Transport."

Here in Dundee, Cllr Fraser Macpherson, Liberal Democrat Convener of Planning & Transport on Dundee City Council and Chair of TACTRAN, the Regional Transport Partnership for Tayside and Stirling, said, "I greatly welcome Alison's intervention on this issue. I am extremely keen to see good, reliable, demand responsive transport right across Tayside and the Stirling Council areas.

"TACTRAN has already started a study on the feasibility of DRT and how to take this issue forward, but it will require proper funding from the Scottish Government if it is to progress across the region."
