Murray Dick backs renewable energy revolution in Scotland

Dundee Liberal Democrats today (Sunday 29th April) gave their support to radical proposals for a renewable energy revolution in Scotland.

Scottish LibDem party Leader Nicol Stephen wants micro-renewables such as solar panels and wind turbines, for all homes, schools and offices. This will deliver lower energy bills, reduce carbon emissions and transform our dependence on fossil fuels. He also wants 100% of Scotland's electricity generated from clean, green sources by 2050.

Nicol said, "There is a huge opportunity to play a major role in tackling the global threat of climate change. I will introduce an Energy Bill in September to help Scotland become the renewables powerhouse of Europe.

"Our world beating marine energy technology can create thousands of jobs and billions of pounds of new investment. The impact could be greater for the Scottish economy than North Sea oil."

Locally, here in Dundee, LibDem spokesperson Murray Dick said, "The Liberal Democrats want to see a renewable energy revolution in Scotland - clearly vital to secure our country's future."
