Liberal Democrats in upbeat mood!

Dundee Liberal Democrats today (Saturday 16th September) welcomed preparations for next week's Liberal Democrat Federal Conference, putting in place the policy framework that will take the party through the rest of this Parliament.

The mood is expected to be upbeat following the recent demolition of the Tories' 13 000 majority in Bromley - one of their safest seats cut to a majority of just 641 - following on the heels of a thumping win for Willie Rennie in Dunfermline, as well as a strong of recent council by-election successes.

Among the highlights in a packed week of debates, conference representatives will debate the most radical plans to tax pollution and help people on low and middle incomes ever proposed by a major party, as well as new policy papers on children and families, local government and international law.

The policy framework document 'Trust in People: Make Britain Free, Fair and Green', which will be debated on Wednesday, sets out how the party will tackle poverty and social injustice in Britain.

Dundee Liberal Democrats said that the future is with the LibDems and that it was clear that the Scottish Liberal Democrats would make great gains in the May 2007 elections.
